How It All Went Down

I'm terrible at updating my regular blog, but I think that's because right now my life is consumed with baking cookies and planning a wedding - neither of which I feel should be on my UglyKitty-business blog.  So sadly, she gets neglected, but I still love her.

Since everyone wants to know, we might as well start at the beginning...

Jay and I met in College

and we've been friends for years.  It's your classic Animal House story.  He was the reluctant fraternity guy.  I was the reluctant sorority girl.  We became instant friends over beer and making fun of others. But we didn't actually start dating until after college.  About 3.5 years later, he decided he like it and would put a ring on it.

Jay proposed 15 minutes into Valentines Day...not so much that he was waiting for V-Day, but more because he thought it was bad luck to propose on Friday the 13th.  (I feel the need to justify why we got engaged on Valentines)

He waited until I was just asleep, then rolled over and put the ring box in front of me.  I remember a) being pissed that he woke me up and b) telling myself not to get excited until I was sure that the box didn't contain one of those "free with purchase" heart necklaces.

It was not.  He did a fabulous job, if I do say so myself.  The diamond is actually my grandmother's and he arranged with my parents get the diamond and put it in a new setting.

I think I'll keep him.

Anyway, we've set a date in July 2010, which means that I have plenty of time to DIY everything I can (don't worry, there will be plenty of posts with all my ideas and traumas).  But I will tell you this, we're going to have a cookie bar so not only am I going to post my ideas here, but my trials and tribulations with testing cookie recipes.

Much love!
Renee
